We know prospective adopters and birth parents alike have been through so much to get here and we want to make this next step in their adoption journey as comfortable as possible.
As a team of adoption experts, we are knowledgeable and experienced in the emotional and logistical complexity of adoption. By the time your clients are here, we know they’ve made difficult decisions and have experienced a wide range of emotions regarding adoption.
We also know that without matching, there is no adoption. Unfortunately, private adoption agencies and licensees have waitlists and cannot profile all of the available prospective adopters to birth parents. This is where Ontario Adoption Matching (OAM) comes in—a place specifically for Ontario prospective adopters and birth parents to connect.
We assure you that their interests are at the root of everything we do.
For birth parents, their search process will be a little easier as they won’t have to spend endless hours viewing profiles from across the country. OAM helps them search only in Ontario regions for the right family for their child.
For prospective adopters, they will easily present their authentic selves to birth parents through profiles that hold photos and descriptions that represent the real them.
Our goal is to make your client's matching journey as comfortable as possible. Once they sign up for an OAM membership, they will receive easy to follow instructions on how to begin.

Birth parents look at the profiles listed on the website and find the prospective adopter(s) they feel most connected to. That connection is their starting point to determine who would make the best alternate parent(s) for their child. They then reach out to prospective adopters through their provided contact information (only accessible through an account).
This is the most frequently asked question and absolutely reasonable. Unfortunately, we can't predict how long it takes for prospective adopters to be chosen by birth parents. In our experience, some prospective adopters are matched soon after completing their SAFE Homestudy and PRIDE, while some take months, years, or never.
We take privacy and security seriously during this process.
Prospective adopters are required to complete their full profile which requires that they include a true copy of a SAFE Homestudy. We will also monitor our applicants to ensure they meet our standards.
Birth Parents will be required to create an account and provide proof of their address and identification.
In our FAQ sections for both parties, we were sure to include notes of best practices. As an adoption practitioner/counsellor, please ensure your client's are aware of some of the safety precautions they should be taking when it comes to adoption matching online.
Our team is well aware of the inherent stresses of the adoption process for everyone involved. With our many years of professional experience in the adoption field, we determined there was a need for a streamlined, easy to use adoption matching platform for prospective adopters and birth parents in Ontario.
We thought that if we could lend to making the adoption matching process just a little more comfortable for prospective adopters and birth parents, we would do it.
This is where the idea of Ontario Adoption Matching (OAM) was born.
